Short Story

Games For Lives is an initiative undertaken by a Selbornian named Sonwabise N.

I am attempting to raise funds for a fellow Selbornian in Grade 8, Ubuko Mpotulo in order to aquire a mechanical prostethic handle for him in hope of making his life easier. What I have set myself to do is to play a game of FIFA 21 for 3 hours using Newcastle United to win the UEFA Champions League and raise R500 by the end of the 3 hours. In order to get involved you can go to my campaign and pledge. My goal is to reach R1000.

2022 has been a year of change at Selborne College. There has been a growing sense of social responsibility amongst myself and and the rest of boys of Seaborne College. This was sparked by one of our own brothers, Ubuko Mpotulo, who was born with a disease that resulted in the loss of his legs and an underdeveloped handed. The reason why this particular situation hit home for me was because Ubuko is a fellow Selbornian, a brother in the black and whit. The values that i endorse at Selborne are encapsulated by the acronym F.I.R.E, which stands for faith, integrity, respect and enthusiasm. It was the values of integrity and enthusiasm that led me to be part of this initiative. I want to make a difference, and so can you!
