Short Story
The International School Of Cape Town (ISCT) Hawks have pledged to give of our time and energy to score for iThemba Capricorn. The funds raised will go towards a much needed shade structure in the playground to protect the children from the harmful rays of the African sun. This is our first of many initiatives with iThemba. We aspire to bring about change in a community that needs hope – and we are inviting you to help us achieve this goal! Support this worthy cause by donating per goal scored during this season or alternatively make a once off donation. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated. Story
iThemba School Capricorn is a pre-primary school that bridges the educational gap for 75 children between the ages of 3 and 6 years old. They provide early childhood education, English language tutoring and 3 healthy meals a day. Situated in the impoverished area of Capricorn, 20 km outside Cape Town, iThemba brings hope to many children whose parents are unable to provide nutritious meals and pay for an early childhood education which will prepare their children for primary school. We provide a safe and creative learning environment where children can flourish and develop to their full potential. Emphasis is placed on numeracy, literacy and healthy eating. Classes are taught in English to equip the young learners for the South African schooling system, as the children mainly speak their home languages of Xhosa and Afrikaans.
