Short Story

On the 20th of August 2022, 5 Selbornians, Asive Rwexu, Lukhona Barnabas, Chulumanco Blayi , Sinethemba Ngwane and Khonaye Fetsha have decided to partake in paintball shooting for an inspirational initiative of raising funds for Ubuko. Selborne College isn’t just a school it is a family and we have been inspired to help one of our brothers that put on the black and white uniform. With your help we can raise enough to fund a portion of Ubuko’s desired prosthetic hand. We ask for you to pledge  p/Hour that we take to complete our event (any amount that is above R60 to help us reach our target) or you can donate a once off amount now.

Ubuko, a young 14 year old who just wants to be able to carry out daily activities more easily just like the rest of us. Ubuko is a unique individual at Selborne College and you can help us, help him. Ubuko has been physically challenged as a result of a medical condition called bacterial meningitis which has caused him to lose both of his legs and live with a disfigured hand. Day to day activities for Ubuko have been limited and this has motivated us as a group to raise money of which will amount to R1000. This is our goal. Ubuko’s prosthetic hand costs a staggering amount of approximately R700 000 and the beauty of this initiative is that it has united all of us Selbornians and we hope it can inspire many to raise money for people in need. Thanks to our Life orientation teachers this is all possible. Please help us give Ubuko a helping hand.
