Short Story

Glenwood High School 1st Team Rugby boys are excited to announce that they will be running a Tries for Lives campaign over the 2025 rugby season.

The Tries for Lives campaign aims to raise R50 000.00 for St. Martin’s Diocesan Home for Children. The funds raised will go towards:

  • Pressure Cleaner
  • Industrial Trolley
  • Industrial Vacuum Cleaner
  • 80 x Single Duvet Inners
  • 80 x Single Duvet Covers (Natural, for boys & girls)
  • Eyelet Curtains for Dining Hall
  • 20 x Plastic Chairs
  • 10 x Fold-Up Plastic Trestle Tables (for homework and functions)

Glenwood Rugby believes in making a difference both on and off the field, which is why they have launched this initiative. The Green Machine has always been about selflessness and giving back in appreciation of everything the sacred jersey represents.

We can think of nothing more meaningful than playing for a cause that will have a lasting impact beyond the 2025 season.

The boys at Glenwood High School not only challenge each other to score as many tries as possible during the season but also encourage parents, companies, and the wider Glenwood High School community to pledge towards this campaign by pledging per try scored OR make a once-off contribution.

Story

St. Martin’s Diocesan Home for Children, located in the Glenwood area of Durban, provides care and support for 75 children between the ages of 3 and 18. Through its human and material resources, the home is dedicated to fostering beauty and strength within the children, offering them love, care, and a nurturing environment where inner healing can take place. By addressing their physical, emotional, intellectual, cultural, social, and spiritual needs, St. Martin’s ensures that each child has the opportunity to grow and reach their full potential at every developmental stage. Additionally, the home is committed to building a better society that minimizes suffering and contributes to the well-being of children, helping them thrive despite their challenges.

The home relies on the generosity of donors to meet the remaining 68% of its operational costs in cash or kind. Your support can make a difference—consider donating to the Glenwood Tries for Lives campaign to help fund this incredible organization and ensure that these children continue to receive the care and opportunities they deserve.
