Short Story

We, the u15A and B Rugby teams of Hilton College, are going to be using our talent and love for rugby to raise money for the children at Thandi House Place of Safety. Our goal for the season is to raise R30 000 for the children’s home. This money will go to repairing their house and the dirt road that leads to it. It will also be used for wheelchairs and other medical devices for those who have medical conditions. Things like this can make a significant difference in children’s lives.

Let’s come together to achieve this goal and help the children from Thandi House Place of Safety.

As Hilton boys, we are extremely privileged to be at this great institution but, unfortunately, many people do not have this same privilege. The children at Thandi House Place of Safety are some of many in this country who go through hardships every day. Thandi House is a family-based Place of Safety in Pietermaritzburg, run by Mark and Rene Morcom. For 10 years, they have cared for the broken and forgotten children of this town, giving them the love and a family they deserve. Thandi House cares for up to 25 children, including young girls faced with an unplanned pregnancy. During the Covid19 pandemic its focus changed and it became more of a long term place of safety. This was a very hard time for the home financially.
