Short Story
A team of nine individuals are taking on the Robben Island Swim challenge in Cape Town, South Africa, between May 14th and 24th, 2025(weather dependent). This grueling 7.5km swim from the historic Robben Island to Blouberg Beach will be done in freezing waters—with nothing but our speedos—all to raise awareness and funds for Men’s Mental Health.
We’re proud to support SADAG (The South African Depression and Anxiety Group), helping men in South Africa and beyond. We are aiming to raises R70 000.00 and the funds raised will be going towards the SADAG 24hr Call Centre’s running costs.
Join us in making a difference—every donation brings hope and support to those who need it most.
Story
For over 30 years, SADAG has been a lifeline for millions, helping those struggling with Mental Health challenges, emotional distress, and crisis situations. Our mission is to reduce stigma, promote awareness, advocate for Mental Health rights, and ensure that every South African has access to the care they need.
SADAG operates over 30 national 24/7 toll-free helplines staffed by trained counsellors who provide telephonic counselling, crisis intervention, and referrals to Mental Health professionals and support services. Beyond our helplines, SADAG is involved in public awareness campaigns, educational programs, and rural outreach initiatives, working to bridge gaps in Mental Health literacy and services.
Our school-based programmes equip educators, parents, and learners with knowledge and tools to support youth Mental Health. We also provide resources and self-help materials on a range of conditions, including Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, and PTSD, empowering individuals to know more about their mental well-being.
SADAG plays a key role in Mental Health advocacy, collaborating with government departments, healthcare providers, corporate partners, and community organizations to improve national Mental Health policies, expand treatment options, and push for greater investment in Mental Healthcare infrastructure. Through strong partnerships between the public and private sectors, we work to create long-term, positive change and ensure that Mental Health remains a national priority.
