Short Story
We are a group of grade 11 Lo students, who enjoy rowing, namely: Callen , James , Hayden , Ryan and Ryan S.
We are going to be doing an “ergothon”, for a period 24 hours, where we will constantly have one person on the ergo for the whole 24 hours.
We are running this campaign under the 4UBUKO campaign, which in short is the Selborne College community coming together to receive funding to help our fellow Selbornian, Ubuko. We want to literally give him a hand as he is missing fingers and already has the challenges of having blade legs.
You can help by pledging a once off amount and backing our campaign or you can pledge R2/km.
Row for lives – 4 Ubuko
Supported so far by 6 people.
Story
When Ubuko was two he was diagnosed with septicemia, which resulted in gangrene. He sadly lost both legs and several flingers to this. When Ubuko was 7, his teachers helped him by organizing fund raisers and contacting organization so that he could receive prosthetic legs.
Ubuko’s dream to be integrated into school sport came true when he received his prosthetic legs. He joined Selborne Primary in Grade 3 and is now a Grade 8 learner at Selborne College. The LO department made us aware of the Sports For Lives organization and decided to let us creaye this campaign to show our passion for a fellow Selbornian.
This is why we have chosen to do this Ergothon as it is the ultimate physicality test. We want to push our bodies to the limit and struggle through extreme hardship for our fellow Selbornian. We want to better the world we live in starting with the community closest to us.
