Short Story
We are a group of six house mates, united by shared experiences and a common goal: to make a meaningful impact in the fight against childhood cancer. We have all experienced the trauma and sadness of seeing close friends and family members battling cancer, and in some cases, losing the fight against this dread disease.
Please join and support us, as we lace up our shoes to ultimately conquer the Cape Town Marathon on October 20th, 2024. Along the way and on the day, we aim to raise funds for CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA, a remarkable organisation supporting children with cancer and their families.
Meet the team:
Matt, Flem (James), Ders (James), Ethan, Dom and Steph, six university students living and studying together at Vineyard – our digs. Apart from studying, playing golf, padel and going for occasional drinks, we have recently started running together as a group.
Why we run:
Cancer is a battle no person, and especially a child should face alone, and we believe every step we take can bring hope, motivation, and healing. By running this marathon, we are not only challenging ourselves physically, but also championing and honouring the brave children who fight cancer every day. Our journey is more than just crossing the finish line; it is about making a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
