The vision of Lungisani Indlela is to transform and empower the lives of the people of Amaoti and surrounding areas, bringing them hope for the future. Our initiatives include:

• • Learner Support Program where children from Amaoti are cared for by Youth Workers who are trained, previously unemployed members of the community. This care includes home and school visits, provision of school uniforms, counselling, food parcels and assistance with school work etc.
  • Uthando Safe House is a transitional place of safety for children from the community of Amaoti who have been abandoned, neglected or abused. The children are thriving under the love and care of our wonderful Safe House Mom, the local church and community.
  • Feeding into the community of Amaoti via donated food hampers and ready made meals.
  • Academic support. We run an Aftercare program after school to provide academic and emotional support, care and food to the learners. Due to the abysmal education system in our country, and the very poor literacy amongst our learners, we run these extra lessons, using the Neema Foundation’s “Gateway to Reading Program.”
  • Youth events. We host several events throughout the year, in order to reach out and empower the youth and impact their lives in a meaningful way. These include holiday clubs, I am that Girl and Youth Day.
