Short Story
The HeronBridge College 1st Team Hockey girls are playing for something much bigger than themselves this season:
Rassie Erasmus inspired the Springboks to play for a higher purpose—now it’s our turn! Thanks to Sport for Lives, Heronbridge College (HBC) is joining schools nationwide in playing sports for a greater cause in 2025.
With our Blue Heart ethos of community impact, partnering with LIV Lanseria which is just a few kilometres from HBC, LIV Lanseria provides a loving home, education, and support for orphaned and vulnerable children. Now expanding with 60Ha of new land, they’re growing their mission to change lives.
Leading the charge, HBC’s matric class of 2025—through our 1st Teams of Hockey(Boys and Girls), Netball, and Rugby—is launching our Sport for Lives campaign . Our goal is to raise R50,000 across four campaigns to support the growth of LIV Lanseria’s sports program.
Every goal and win counts. Pledge per goal or give a once-off donation to support LIV Lanseria.
Join us—let’s play with purpose and leave a legacy!

Story
LIV Lanseria is a life-giving village for orphaned and vulnerable children, which produces healthy families, empowered communities, and future leaders for South Africa.
Empowering Lanseria communities for over 30 years. Our journey started in 1991 when Jean Steward and Yvonne Jacques opened a Christian healthcare clinic in the Drummond Informal settlement. Over the years, the project evolved and in 2005 relocated and was renamed as Refilwe Community Project.
In August 2018, they joined the LIV family as LIV Lanseria, to become a part of the national footprint of impact and lasting change. This partnership empowers us to transform many more lives, instill hope and create a brighter future for Lanseria communities. The village is now led by Le-anne Kleynhans, Mubita Mebelo and Nicole Gillette and we have a heart to serve our community by positively impacting the children in as many ways as possible.
