Activating generosity through GOAL scoring.
The campaign:
This is a “Goals for Lives” campaign facilitated by the Sport For Lives movement.
The cause:
Help the boys raise enough money to support the CHOC accommodation facilities in Pietermaritzburg. Families of children fighting cancer should not have to worry about a place to sleep during their child’s lengthy treatment.
In South Africa, childhood cancer is treated by a paediatric oncologist at a paediatric oncology unit. These facilities are not available in every town. Not only that, but dependent on the type of cancer, families might be referred to another town far from where they normally stay.
CHOC has 13 home-away-from-home accommodation facilities close to the specialised treatment centres across South Africa to accommodate out-of-town patients and a parent/caregiver during the lengthy cancer treatment phase. This campaign will be supporting the accommodation facility in Pietermaritzburg.
The child and parent/caregiver stay at these facilities at no cost and get to spend time with other families facing similar circumstances. CHOC provides nutritional meals and a clean and safe, homely environment with caring and understanding staff – a place where new friendships are formed.
