Short Story
We are the Kearsney 1st XV (The One Stripe). We recognise what a great privilege it is to represent our school. The 1st XV want to use our sporting platform for good – to help improve the lives of the children cared for by the Ethelbert Child and Youth Care Centre through every try we score in the 2023 season. This season we want to challenge those in our communities (parents, families, Old Boys, businesses) to help us change lives this year. Story
Ethelbert Child & Youth Care Centre (CYCC) is a registered non-profit and public benefits organisation (NPO & PBO) specialising in the full-time care, rehabilitation and support of vulnerable, abandoned and abused children within Kwa-Zulu Natal. As a residential place of safety, Ethelbert CYCC supports 65 beneficiaries aged 18 months to 18 years. Through the assistance of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa, the Centre was built and has been servicing the greater community for over 100 years. In Kearsney’s 102nd year of existence, we aim to raise R102 000 for the children of Ethelbert. Ethelbert are in need of 2 x fridge/freezers, a four plate stove, a high pressure cleaner, 4 x Jojo tanks and pumps among other things.
