Join us in activating generosity for a need right here in our community!

Tharros Child and Youth Care Centre was founded in 2016, born from a passion for children and the realization of a severe lack of resources in our area.

Tharros means courage in Greek, an emotion displayed time and again by the children in their care, as well as all who journey alongside them. Now, more than ever before, courage is needed!

They are home to 25 vulnerable babies and children under 12 years, and their vision is to provide a safe, loving and happy environment where each child receives nurturing according to their individual needs.

The story of the recent fire tragedy…

A devastating fire on the night of Wednesday 8 September destroyed a section of the house and damaged many of our rooms . Their home is consequently closed until renovations are complete, which will take 6 months or more. Thankfully all the children and caregivers were evacuated safely. The 16 children in their care at the time have been placed in alternate foster care facilities . They are now focused entirely on renovating the building so that when they open, Tharros will be stronger, brighter and better than before.
