The Challenge: “Marlise Venter is running 1,000 km from September to December 2025 to raise funds for children at Pathways.”
About Marlise
Marlise Venter, a 42-year-old mother of two, is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children who face extraordinary challenges. Inspired by the strength and resilience of the children at Pathways, she has committed herself to an ambitious journey—running 1,000 km in just four months—to create awareness and raise vital funds.
The Goal
The objective of Marlise’s 1000 km challenge is to:
Raise funds that will directly benefit the Pathways Centre, ensuring its sustainability.
Assist in paying school fees for learners in need, making sure no child is left behind.
Raise broader awareness of the daily challenges children with severe disabilities face and highlight the incredible work of Pathways.
A Note from Marlise
“I believe every child deserves the chance to reach their full potential. By supporting Pathways, we are not only giving children an education and therapy but also giving families hope. Donate today and change a life forever.”
Please consider supporting Marlise’s 1,000 km run with a donation to Pathways, giving children the chance to thrive.

Story
About Pathways:
Pathways began in 1995 with a dream to create a special place where children with severe disabilities could be educated and stimulated, while giving their parents hope and support. What started with just three children in the Kloof Methodist Church hall has grown into a registered non-profit organization and a multi-racial, multi-cultural centre with fully trained staff and beautiful premises in Westville. Today, Pathways serves as the central hub for supporting 84 children and young adults in-house, as well as reaching many more through its various outreach programmes.
✨ Mission of Pathways:
To enable children with barriers to social interaction and learning, and their families, to achieve a greater quality of life. Our core ethos is also to support the families of the disabled children, to enable them to live a more normal life at home, and to give them a sense of hope.
💙 Slogan of Pathways: Making life joyful.
