Riding for Change: Mario Takes on Ride Joburg for Lungisani Indlela
On Sunday, 26 October 2025, the streets of Johannesburg came alive with energy, determination, and purpose as thousands of cyclists took part in the annual Ride Joburg event. Among them was Mario, whose heart and mission made his 97 km ride especially meaningful.
This was Mario’s second Ride Joburg, but his first time riding for Lungisani Indlela (LI) — and what a remarkable ride it was! Fueled by passion and purpose, Mario dedicated every kilometre to the children of Amaoti, where Lungisani Indlela continues to transform lives through education, mentorship, and community support.
Mario’s campaign aimed to raise R25,000 to provide much-needed school uniforms for children in the LI Program — ensuring that every child can walk confidently into school, ready to learn and thrive. His determination to make a difference captured the hearts of many, inspiring friends, family, and supporters to contribute and spread the word.
Throughout the day, Mario pushed through every hill and turn with one goal in mind — to activate generosity and ride for something greater than himself. His journey became a powerful reminder of how sport can bring people together, bridging communities and creating opportunities for hope and dignity.
Whether supporters gave a once-off donation or pledged per kilometre, every contribution helped move the mission forward. Because at Lungisani Indlela, every act of generosity counts — and every child matters.
His Ride Joburg journey stands as a shining example of what it means to be Playing for Purpose, using sport as a vehicle for lasting change. Thanks to his effort and the incredible generosity of supporters, more children in Amaoti will have the uniforms and confidence they need to pursue their dreams.
Sport For Lives celebrates Mario and everyone who supported his campaign — proof that when we come together with compassion and determination, we can turn kilometres into kindness.
