DPHS Plays with Purpose for the Third Year in a Row!
At Sport For Lives, we are always inspired by the incredible schools and communities that use sport as a tool to make a real difference in the lives of others. This year, we’re thrilled to announce that Durban Preparatory High School (DPHS) is once again stepping up — for the third year in a row — to Play with Purpose!
DPHS has become a shining example of what it means to combine passion, purpose, and teamwork. Through their ongoing commitment to Sport For Lives, they’ve shown that young athletes can do far more than just compete — they can bring hope, raise awareness, and inspire change.
Whether it’s through cricket, rugby, hockey, or other sports, DPHS students are not just playing for trophies. They’re playing to support causes, uplift communities, and change lives. Their consistent involvement over the past three years is a testament to the school’s strong values and belief in the power of sport to be a force for good.
In 2025, DPHS is once again demonstrating its commitment to community upliftment by participating in the Sport For Lives campaign. This year, the U11 A, B, and C rugby teams, along with the 1st to 5th Rugby Teams, will be playing not only for school pride but to raise R86,000 for the renovation of the school kitchen. The funds will go toward much-needed upgrades, including a new stove, cabinets, ceiling, and flooring—a practical and impactful project that will benefit all learners and staff.
This initiative also marks the third year of DPHS’s partnership with Eqinisweni. In 2023, their joint campaign with the Learn Project contributed to the building of a new library. In 2024, the U11 teams raised funds to support Eqinisweni’s chess and netball programmes. Now, in 2025, the schools are once again teaming up to bring lasting change—this time through the power of shared purpose and generosity.
As these young athletes take to the field, they are playing for something much greater than themselves. They are playing to make a tangible difference, and they are inviting the entire DPHS community to join them. Supporters are encouraged to activate generosity by making a once-off donation to help them reach their fundraising goal.
DPHS’s ongoing involvement in Sport For Lives is a powerful reminder that sport is not just about competition—it’s about compassion, connection, and community.
